Our mission includes four distinct approaches to
directly support our Chinatown/Nolita community:
Ensuring equal employment opportunities while empowering underrepresented groups, with a focus on women and minority women. Additionally, we are partnering with Hospitality Pathways, a non-profit organization that trains underprivileged people in the cannabis industry.
Cannabis businesses generate substantial tax revenue for the local government, enabling the allocation of funds to support essential public services such as schools, infrastructure development, and community programs.
Our community is our best asset. This will help to stimulate the local economy and extend employment opportunities to residents while cultivating a strong sense of community engagement and pride among our workforce.
Alta Dispensary is dedicated to giving back to the local community by partnering with Send Chinatown Love. A portion of the profits have been pledged to this organization that supports local Chinatown businesses.
About Send Chinatown Love
Send Chinatown Love is a New York based, entirely volunteer run organization that supports Asian- and immigrant-owned small businesses across all of the city’s Chinatowns. Our mission is to respond to the needs of Asian-owned businesses by providing customized services and resources, while also creating opportunities for our community to connect with them. Send Chinatown Love hopes to build a more resilient future for these businesses and all of NYC’s Chinatowns. We also recently published a James Beard-nominated cookbook, Made Here, featuring 40+ of our partner merchants and their incredible stories!
Over the last 15 years, Manhattan’s
Chinatown has lost 15,000 affordable
housing units.
The median income is less than half the
amount of all other nearby districts.
1/3 of senior citizens live below the
poverty line.
Each quarter, alta will provide direct monetary support to Send Chinatown Love, to help contribute positively to the welfare and growth of community and provide meaningful assistance to those in need.
